Our Story

Take The Lead Dance Studio opened its doors in 2006 in a small studio on the second floor of Pike Creek Shopping Center in Wilmington and was born out of a desire to make dancing more accessible to all.  We quickly outgrew our small studio and moved just a mile up the road to a 6,000 sq.ft. facility in Lantana Square (Hockessin).

With its experienced and friendly staff, flexible options for learning, and many social events, Take The Lead established itself as the place to dance in Delaware and the surrounding areas.  Whether you want to learn for a wedding or special event, perform in a showcase, dance competitively, or just get out and have some fun, we can help you meet your goals.  We are proud to have won the Delaware Reader's Choice Award every year since 2013.

Our international staff includes national and world champions from the Czech Republic, Italy, and the US, highly trained social instructors, as well as many visiting instructors and competitive coaches from around the world.  Add our students of all ages and backgrounds and you will see that our dance floor is a true example of diversity and inclusion where all are welcome.

In 2024, after a 9 year absence, original founder and owner Luann D'Agostino Manley is back at the helm of Take The Lead, this time with her husband and fellow instructor, Doug Manley.  Doug, Luann, and the TTL team are committed to the continued growth of our dance community and sharing our passion for dance.
